Dear Friends & Colleagues,
On behalf of the organizing committee, we welcome you to the 8th World Symposium for Lymphedema surgery, which will be held in Taiwan at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taoyuan from 25th to 27th of April 2019. Over the last 7 years, the symposium has been hosted across three countries, Barcelona (Spain), Taoyuan (Taiwan), and Chicago, Illinois (US) and each year the committee and its members have diligently taken on the organizational challenges required to make this global educational collaboration a reality. We would like to sincerely thank everyone, including the contributors, organizing committees and all participants who made our past symposiums possible. Once again, we have invited the world’s foremost experts in the field of lymphedema surgery to present their latest ideas and innovations....
This year, we are excited to announce the new “pre-symposium hands-on instructional course in supermicrosurgery” which will be held the day prior to the commencement of the symposium. Participants will have the opportunity to “learn from the masters” by performing mock lymphedema procedures on mice using microscopes under their supervision and guidance. The symposium will follow with 2 days of keynote lectures, panel discussions, paper presentations, surgical video screenings, and live surgeries. The lecture and discussion segments will serve as a platform for our invited expert to discuss recent research and clinical outcomes, therefore allowing participants to gain valuable insight into the most up-to-date knowledge of lymphedema.
All participants will have the opportunity to present their work and we welcome submissions of abstracts. The most outstanding of which will be selected for publication in the supplement issue of Journal of Surgical Oncology. The live surgery session will showcase current surgical strategies, pre-operative evaluation, indications, and technical pearls. Members will not only be able to observe the details of the various operations and its techniques but will also be able to pose questions and have them answered by the performing surgeons in real-time.
This symposium represents an unparalleled educational opportunity to learn the latest “state-of-the-art” in lymphedema surgery. We cordially invite you to Taiwan to meet and learn from the world leaders in lymphedema surgery. We are sure you will enjoy both the educational program we have crafted as well as the hospitality and culture of Taiwan. If you require further information or assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us at the address provided below.
We would like to extend a warm invitation to all our colleagues to join us for this symposium at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital.
